In order to run, Crossword Construction Kit requires a newer version of the Windows common controls than is shipped with the original unpatched installations of Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or NT.

If the message "EReadError in cwkit.exe. Error reading ils Toolbar.Bitmap: failed to read ImageList data from stream" was displayed when you tried to run Puzzle Player, then you will need to install a later version of the common controls. Download the update file from Microsoft's web site and install it.

Common Controls - Download CC32inst.exe or a later version of the Windows Common Controls and then install it.
